SHEPERDS, BIRMINGHAM

Sheperds barber shop sits on the main thoroughfare through the centre of Birmingham, and as such when the city hosted the 2022 Commonwealth Games we were called in to design a window that would not infringe on the Games’ stringent promotional rules whilst also drawing attention and celebrating this cultural landmark in time.

Choosing to celebrate the athletes themselves rather than the Commonwealth Games (which has problematic colonial connotations) we incorporated the image of a sprinter dramatically moving across the window pane with ‘Welcome Athletes’ on the corner to draw attention.
