WEST BROMWICH REDEVELOPMENT

Having secured grant funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority, Sandwell Council employed us to design and install an artwork to add vibrancy to the area, to celebrate and reinforce pride and optimism in West Bromwich and its future during a period of redevelopment in the town centre.

Coinciding with the rejuvenation of the high street, we hand painted a design that incorporates the restoration colours of the Farley Fountain. The site being a thoroughfare between the high street and Dartmouth Park, the artwork represents a link between the natural and the urban areas, featuring various local landmarks and flora that can be found both on the new high street landscaping and also in Dartmouth Park's Sensory Garden.

Our hope was to create an eyecatching, positive artwork that adds a little more joy to those journeying past, inspiring pride and excitement for the future of our historic town.

We were also tasked with designing and painting 5 electricity boxes that lead up the high street. We chose to make it into a trail of the four seasons in West Bromwich, incorporating the same style of the mural but with slightly different colours so as to fit better in the environment.
